georgeI started working out with Susan in mid-August.  I never thought that I would be able to continue working out for very long.  In the past, I would always try to lose weight first, because I didn’t think I had the energy to continue any type of workout regimen.  The problem is, I wasn’t losing any weight.  After being challenged by my daughter to seek out a personal trainer, my sister-in-law gave me Susan’s name and phone number.

I remember the first time I met with Susan and went over my goals and expectations.  Nothing  grandiose.  I just wanted to lose weight and get in better shape.  I was overweight, 52 years old and living a sedentary lifestyle when I started.  Feeling aches and pains every day.  I would struggle getting up from a chair after sitting for too long.  I struggled lifting my left leg to put on my shoes.  I would have to reach down and grab my pants and pull my foot up, my leg aching the whole time, to put on and tie my shoe.   Whenever my wife and I would go shopping, my hips would start aching after walking for 20-30 minutes.  I would be miserable if I would stay standing for an hour or more.

So, I decided to give Susan a try and started working out with her twice a week.  I would love to tell you I have enjoyed every minute.  But I’m not a liar.  I’m not sure I have ever enjoyed any of the workouts Susan has put me through.  I describe Susan to friends as the meanest nice person I know.  It’s hard to get upset with her while she’s forcing me to do something when she’s so polite and encouraging.  But there is one thing I can say, I have never regretted any workouts once completed.  I have gone home with less stress and feeling better about myself every time.

Fast forward to today.  One thing that Susan has stressed is, “We’re not looking for a quick fix.  We’re trying to make a lifestyle change, so it lasts.”  In just 3 months, I have lost 20 pounds and have gone from a 42 inch waist to a 40 inch, from an XXL to an XL shirt.  But more important to me, is how I feel.  I can get up from sitting without any aches and pains.  I can put on my shoes without any problems.  I can go shopping with my wife without having any hip pains.  Plainly put,


Susan has helped me make a change in my life and it has been for the best.
