"A Know It All Speaks:

My name is Tim Prescott and I am currently 49 years old. On September 21st, 2013 on a flight home from Ireland I suffered a myocardial infarction (heart attack) mid-way over the Atlantic. I did not realize what it was at the time but fortunately for me I had developed what is known as collateral circulation within the vessels of my heart. Had I not, I would not be writing this note today as 1/3 of these occurrences are fatal.

Many of us face health issues, particularly as we approach middle age. And if you’re like me, quite a bit overweight or what doctors call, morbidly obese you have to face serious challenges. I considered myself very lucky. Not just because I survived, but because my future was still within my control. But I had to change my life and lifestyle.

Being an athlete my entire life, I truly felt like I knew what needed to be done. Simple math here. Intake fewer calories than I am able to burn throughout the day. My first goal was to do one of those infomercials and I landed on P90X. I did that for 90 days straight. It was definitely one of the harder things I’ve ever done. And I got some results but not the one I wanted. I grew muscle but I did not lose much or any weight. And after 90 days I was done. But life goes on.

Next step was to focus purely on cardiovascular training and ignore weights or muscle related training to avoid bulking up. I would do at least an hour a day, often as much as 2 hours, 5-6 days a week. I was very dedicated to the stair master, elliptical, treadmill and biking machines. Again, I felt great but was not seeing the results I wanted and truly needed. I needed to change my life.

On Valentine’s Day someone who truly cares for me bought me 2 sessions @ Inspired By Fitness, and consultation with Susan Van Hoosen. After procrastinating for over 2 months, I finally set up a meeting with Susan. Although I went in open minded, I still felt like I knew what needed to be done. I felt like a diet was going to be the solution she would offer, and deep down I knew this would not work for me long term. I had done this once before with excellent short term results but nothing that lasted the test of time.

After 2 sessions with Susan, I was sold on her abilities to help me. She runs a “no judgement” zone, which I truly needed. I also needed to be held accountable, which she is also great at. The process is very simple and straightforward… but the work is not easy! It truly challenged me to make some changes in my workouts, eating and drinking habits, and my life in general. The word diet never came up. Instead, Susan looked for low hanging fruit and each week suggested some minor changes. Things like adding protein to my breakfast, drinking more water (a lot really), not drinking diet soda, walking after dinner, smaller meals at night, snacks in between meals and the biggest change of all was how I work out.

I no longer spend hours on cardio machines. Instead I do limited amounts of time at higher rates of energy, and I combine cross fit training exercises once I get my body into fat burning mode. I rarely do more than 15 minutes of traditional cardio exercises. The end result are shorter work out times, but they are much more difficult. The process is geared towards building muscle mass and burning fat. So as the fat content reduces, the muscle mass increases, and the results are an overall body workout, not just the heart. I am truly sculpting my entire body now.

I started with Susan late April of 2015, and as of today, September 16th, 2015 I have dropped 25 pounds of fat… and who knows how much muscle I’ve put on. All I can tell you is you probably don’t want to mess with me at this point in time. I feel like Bazooka Joe! Nobody is going to kick sand in my face J All indications are that this new way of doing things has worked for me. I have more energy in all aspects of my life, including my libido. My blood work is perfect, and the last time I saw my cardiologist he moved me from every 6 months to 18 months. If he’s not worried, I’m not worried. The road ahead will not be easy, but I’ve take this one step at a time and have learned to be patient. Losing 1 to 2 pounds per week is the goal. And to be honest, I have not reached my goal every week. That is not realistic because life happens.

Nothing tastes as good as being fit feels.

If you have just read this and you feel like I have spoken directly to you, then I probably have! Pick up the phone and call Susan today, and change your life, because today is the first day of the rest of your life. You will love Susan, you can expect her very best each and every week regardless of your results, she stays positive and so will you."

Sincerely,

Tim Prescott
