Walking Benefits

Walk the walk to better health, more energy ! One of the most under-rated, most effective physical activity is our basic human transportation  of walking - more throughout the day. My  "Healthy Habit Checklist" (Check It Out Here) in Creating a Lifestyle of Health & Wellness is #9 Perform Physical Activity Each Day. This can be challenging if we have a desk job, travel or are tied to other non mobile tasks, so finding ways to sneak in exercise/activity during the day is key to success

Studies continue to show that a simple, short 10 minute walk adds up to big health benefits. More movement throughout the day is demonstrating more health benefits than spending 30 minutes to an hour of exercise then sitting all day. Taking a walk (ideally a brisk walk) after eating a meal not only helps aid in digestion, but refreshes the nrain/mind and body.

Another quick refresher is to take a 10 minute walk mid-afternoon or after work (or for added calorie and toning boost, walk up and down the stairs for 10 minutes!) for an instant energizer & mood booster. If at the office, schedule a Walking Meeting.

"Take 10" to track more daily steps -10,000 a day is the goal (5,000 steps or less is the definition of living a sedentary lifestyle), help prevent afternoon fatigue, bloating and aid in weight loss or maintenance. Like anything else on your appointment book - schedule the 10 Minutes as a part of your morning routine, lunch break, afternoon appointments or evening wind down time.

Cheers to walking the walk to better health! One Step At A Time, One 10 Minute Walk At A Time, One Bite At A Time!
